You can run most of the smaller stroker kits in the 289 they just don't advertise the application as being for a 289 because the longevity isn't there. If you want to run the stroker just get a 302 block to use to be safe ...A 302 stroked to 347 ci has to be thought of as a 350. A 351 stroked to 427 ci has to be thought of as a big-block.
