How to build stairs in sons of the forest.
Placing logs horizontal is impossible. every time i try it just wants to go at an angle never wants to make a proper horizontal frame on the top so i can build a stairs, this free building is garbage and the premade builds are too small to do anything. Interesting, I don't see to be having any issues placing horizontal logs.

You can have a wall there but only after you made the stairs. You can only make 45° logs if there is a pillar only on one side. So in your case you'd have to remove the 5 "wall"-logs and the pillar closest to you, then place a 45° log and make the stairs. You can afterwards add the 5 "wall"-logs back to where they were.
